Fakir Mohan Senapati, the Vyasa-Kavi of Odisha was born on 14th January in the year 1843 to father Laxman charan senapati and mother Tulsi Devi at Mallikashpur in Balasore district. Fakir Mohan Adhikari, the Thomas Hardy of Odisha is one of the makers of modern Odisha. He started an organization named, ‘Utkala Bhasa Unnati Bindhani Sabha’ for the Odia literature lovers and also to promote Odia language in Odisha and abroad.
