Khirachora Gopinath Temple of Remuna is world famous, which is at only 9km east from Balasore town. Tourists can reach there by bus or train availed to Balasore. Balasore is in between Bhubaneswar and Kolkata on NH-5 and Balasore railway station is passed by all major trains. Khirachora Gopinath Temple is famous for the beautiful idol made up of black stones, which were brought from Vrindavan by Shri Chaitanya Das Babaji. History about the Khirachora Gopinath Temple of Remuna

In Tretaya, while Shri Rama, Sita and Laxman were on Vanavas for 14 years rested at Chitrakuta. Shri Rama made a statue with His arrow and showed Sita and said it would be His next form or avatar; and Sita worshiped the statue at Chitrakuta during the Vanavas. In 13th century, the King Langula Narasingh Dev brought this statue from Chitrakuta and formed worshiped at Remuna. The idol was Lord Gopinath. Whereas the other two idols were Shri Govinda and Shri Madan Mohan, which were brought by a devotee Shri Chaitanya Das Babaji from Vrindavan in the year 1938.

Over 500 years ago, once Madhavendra Puri of Vrindavan came to Remuna while his journey to Puri. He got to know about the special Khira prepared at Gopinath temple and wished to taste the same that he could offer the same Khira to Shri Gopala at Vrindavan. Lord Gopinath offered the same through the priest of the temple, as he knows about the devotees’ desires. Then onwards the temple named as ‘Khirachora Gopinath Temple’. 

It was said that Remuna is alike Vrindavan of Odisha, where the Krishna lovers and devotees comes to worship throughout the year.
