Shri Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo, Freedom Fighter of Orissa, Chief Minister of Orissa,
Shri Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo, the ex-Chief Minister of Orissa was born to Maharaja Prithwiraj Singh Deo of Balangir on 31st March of 1912. Graduated from St. Columbia College of Hazaribagh, he undergone for administrative training at Ranchi and Monghyr. Keeping interests in photography and cinematography; he does social activities such as eradicating the old un-touchability system in his ruling state Patna. He travelled many Asian countries and foreign countries such as Canada, America, Germany, Japan, Britain, France, Italy, and Switzerland. He was been Chief Minister of Orissa from 8th March1967 to 9th January 1971.

  • 1950: Established a political party named Ganatantra Parishad to set up the real democracy in the state;
  • 1952: Elected to Lok Sabha;
  • 1956: Became President of Utkal Sammelan;
  • 1957: Elected to Orissa Legislative Assembly from Kantabanji Constituency;
  • 1957-1959, Nov: Became Secretary General for National Democratic Party and Opposition Leader to Orissa Legislative Assembly;
  • 1959, May to 1961, Feb: Became Finance Minister, Congress-Ganatantra Parishad Coalition Ministry and Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, Orissa; and also a Member of Public Funds Development Enquiry Committee, Orissa;
  • 1961: Elected to Orissa Legislative Assembly from Kantabanji Constituency; Established Rajendra College at Balangir;
  • 1961-1967, Nov: Became Opposition Leader to Orissa Legislative Assembly;
  • 1962: Became President of Swatantra Party for Orissa Unit and Member of General Council, National Executive Parliamentary Board, Swatantra Party;
  • 1967: Elected to Orissa Legislative Assembly from Balangir Constituency;
  • 1975, 23rd February: Shri Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo Expired.
