How to apply for Odisha State Award for Films?

Odisha State Award for Films is given to Odia films made in Odisha or out of Odisha and under certification of Central Board of Films Certification (CBFC). This award is given by Department of Culture, Govt. of Odisha on excellence of cinematic achievements to encourage the production of Odia films with its technical standards and social significance.  

Till now the Award with some prize money, certificate (and Shawl) was given to 22 different schedules.

Eligibility criteria to apply:

  • Duration of feature films must be a minimum length of 70 minutes and certified by CBFC.
  • The names of applicant must be seen in the credit titles of the film.
  • Films made for central government projects or any other NGOs are not eligible for this.
  • Children films must be certified by CBFC as ‘children film’ category.
  • Non-feature films must be certified by CBFC as documentary films or non-feature films category.
  • The acceptable gauge of the films must be 35mm to 16mm.
  • Remake of films from other language and dubbed films are not eligible for this.

Procedure to apply:-

  • Only producer can apply for films.  
  • One can apply for all the awards or one.

  • Application form must be submitted to the Director, Directorate of Culture along with the prescribed fee.

Documents required for applying:

  • Complete application form
  • Copy of CBFC certificate
  • 10 copies of the synopsis in the original language if the entry is a feature film or 10 copies of the Text of the commentary in original language in case of non-feature film.
  • 10 copies of the lyrics, if any each in original language.
  • Short biographical sketches of Producer, Director, Screen Play Writer, Leading and Supporting Artists, Cameraman, Animator, Audiographer, editor, Art Director, costume designer, lyricist, music director and play back singer.
  • Two copies of the certificate of the Central Board of Film Certification attested by a Gazetted Officer. But the Producer may be required to produce the certificate in original for verification.

Fees Structure:

  • A non-refundable entry fee for feature film - Rs. 300/-
  • A non-refundable entry fee for non-feature film - Rs. 150/-
  • The cost of sending the print and other materials and the cost of return shall be borne by the entrant.
  • Last date for receipt of application form along with the print/prints shall be the last working day in the month of February of the year following the year to which the awards relate.
