Pompeo urges India to decrease dependence on China and slams China for bullying in Himalayan regions

United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, India and China have seen fighting and on war situation, hence US hoping India will look west. In addition, he accused China for bullying its neighbors in Himalayas and accused it of activating a deadly conflict with New Delhi in eastern Ladakh.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged India to focus on domestic supply chains and reduce depending on China for telecom and medial amenities. Pompeo said, “India is in this position because it has earned the trust of many nations around the world, including the United States. And the recent classes by the PLA (Peoples’ Liberation Army) are just the latest examples of the CCPs (Chinese Communist Party) unacceptable behavior.”

India recently banned 59 Chinese mobiles apps including TikTok, but not yet banned Huawei while participating in trials for 5G networks. In addition, 70% of medical raw materials are from Chinese suppliers to India.

“We work together to ensure that every country, including China, behaves in the International system in ways that are appropriate and consistent with the International order. You cannot go make for maritime regions that you have no lawful claim to. You cannot threaten countries and bully them in the Himalayas. You cannot engage in cover-ups and co-opt international institutions like the World Health Organization,” Pompeo added.
